Introduced in 2001, the .NAME TLD is the only one meant for personal sites only. These domains can consist of personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are known by. Initially, just third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to buy john.doe.name, you were required to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already registered third-level names remained functional.

You will be able to correct the WHOIS details, to park your domain, to create Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already purchased domain to our company if you get its EPP transfer key from the present domain service provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been completed. There are no special prerequisites on who can register a dot NAME domain name, but in order to keep the concept behind its establishment alive, the .NAME Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
